House was first named by Kate Staffras who made the name up when she
sold it in November of 1992. The main house was built in 1930 and was
the winter home for the Hughes family. The main feature of Red Mill
House is the red cedar paneling in the large lounge room. There have
been several owners who used it as an accommodation house but it wasn't
formalised until 1993 when it became the first Bed & Breakfast in
the Douglas Shire and graced the cover of Jennie Fairlie's Australian
and New Zealand B&B book.
